- Personal Bio
- I am a full professor of Africana arts, history and theory at the University of Arizona. In 2000, I was the first African American woman to be promoted to the rank of professor within the system. Before that full professors were hired at that rank.
I am on sabbatical and paid research leave until May, 2010. I lecture locally, nationally, and internationally on traditional and contemporary African Arts and African American women artists for a standard honorarium. My topics include arts and images women of power from the ancient time through the present.
I am married with one daughter.

- I am available as a speaker for Black History and Women's history months and my fee varies according to the topic and length of the program. I also conduct college success and leadership workshop your ladies of ALL ages (elementary through senior citizen!)

Congratulations on your position at the UofA! I am considering attending the UofA in order to get a doctorate in clinical psychology; however, I want to be sure I am doing it for the right reasons. I have been scheduling meetings with a few individuals at the University, all of whom I trust, but they are all male. Would you be willing to meet with me when you are in town?
