Hey Miriam,

GREAT show at the Diversity Celebration, YWAIT is having an “I AM ROYAL” banquet Feb. 13th and I was wondering if you and some representatives from your fashion show would be available and interested in featuring some of the same culture pieces presented at the Diversity show.

YWAIT is also searching for young women who are taking an active role in our community to raise health awareness, promote leadership and positive legacy building. There are three areas in which we will be giving recognition for and each women awarded will be honored at our “I AM ROYAL” 2009 banquet. If you are interested in entering please email me your bio, all that you are involved in, and your future plans to promote positive growth in our community. You can email me at shauntella@ywaitbgreat.com and I'll send you more info.

Personal Bio
My latest quest takes the form of the 2009 Miss Black Arizona Scholarship Pageant. I see this as a wonderful opportunity to represent African-American women/adolescents and focus on the need to enhance communication between parents and youth about HIV/AIDS and STD prevention.

I am also a graduate student at the Mel and Enid Zuckerman College of Public Health at the University of Arizona with an emphasis on Maternal and Child Health Issues.

I have the pleasure of representing students through my executive role in the Public Health Student Alliance (PHSA) and am a co-chair for the 3rd Annual Diversity Celebration and Fashion Show on October 10th, 2008 (Drachman Hall of the College of Public Health)

Currently, my job as a qualitative research interviewer and co-facilitator has been an incredibly enriching experience. I have the pleasure of working closely with many Tucson adolescents on methods of preventing substance abuse, HIV/AIDS and STDs
